Class Descriptions
Ballet
The basic foundation of all forms of dance. It is necessary
for developing technique and grace. Ballet movement refines
the lines and shapes created in space.
Jazz
A fusion of all forms of movement, which has become a respected
international art form. Jazz dance can range from classical
to funky. Jazz dance will broaden a dancer's perspective
because of how differently it really is.
Tap
Primarily, movement of the feet. Tap involves varied rhythms
and is great for improving one's rhythm because the ear
is such an important part of learning tap. Dancers are encouraged
to study tap because being well rounded is important. Dancers
develop an ear for rhythm after taking tap and it helps
them in other forms of dance.
Hip-Hop
An indigenous style of jazz movement influenced by today's
pop culture. These classes are great in demand with teenage
and adult students because they represent what is happening
now in the music world.
Creative Movement
Designed to introduce the very young child to simple musical
movement in a playful manner. It is unstructured and designed
to be fun and to peak the child's interest in dance and
the performing arts.
Modern Dance
A fusion of ballet and jazz, normally done in bare feet.
It's a movement that offers you different shapes and curves.
Unlike ballet, it is a free form structure in which the
body explores motion off its center axis.
