DEAR PATRON:
City Dance would like to respectfully request your contribution of $200.00 towards our educational concert, Visionary Steps, at Rice University's Hamman Hall, on Friday, 12/09/2005 at 10.30 am. This Concert Series, intended primarily for school children from underserved communities in Houston, will use dance and physical motion as an artistic medium to impart significant life lessons, ranging anywhere from the values of hard work and discipline to the merits of responsible citizenship. We ask for your assistance in our continuing mission to spread the art of dance to as large and as diverse a population as possible.
At City Dance, we believe that a physically active and artistically vibrant lifestyle is the key to uplifting both individuals and the community. It would be a privilege to share our message with that of your organization, a magazine as committed as we are to the interrelated concepts of physical and overall health and wellness. As an official sponsor, your company will enjoy a public presence as a corporate contributor throughout City Dance's promotional materials including our brochures, flyers, press releases, signage, and website. Also, we will announce your company's name as a corporate sponsor at all of City Dance's performances.
As City Dance's Artistic Manager and founder, I started this organization in 1994, as a way to provide the community the opportunity to learn, watch, and produce dance performances. Stressing the importance of artistic and cultural diversity, City Dance supports its own Professional Company, a diverse group of dancers committed to their own development and to sharing their talents and experiences with others, and an entire series of classes and workshops for anyone who is interested in exploring the world of dance. City Dance also encourages its members to become involved in the community, and we hold many free performances, demonstrations, and masters classes at places like the Texas Children's Hospital and Johnston Middle School. On the weekends, we even donate our space to at-risk minority youths, who also happen to be some of the best hip-hop and b-boy dancers in Houston.
City Dance has achieved "Artist in Residence" status at Rice University, and we reach a local audience of approximately 20,000 people annually. We've performed at the 2003 Family Series at the Alley Theatre, the 2002-2003 Society of Performing Arts Educational Outreach programs at the Wortham Theater, and at Urban Mix 11, at the Miller Outdoor Theatre in 2003 and 2004.
In short, to become involved with City Dance is to contribute to one of the truly progressive voices Houston's dance scene today, where we strive to combine art and activity, personal excellence and community outreach. We would greatly appreciate your support, and we thank you in advance for your generosity, and please feel free to contact me if you have any questions.
Sincerely,
Sherese Campbell
